| Panasonic CT 27D10 with green red green red bars | justin Mar 22, 2001 5:52 PM | | I have a panasonic ct 27d10 that has green red green red bars across the front of the screen they're very faint and with lights on low there almost invisible(to watch a DVD). They don't really affect the picture except when the illumination is low say contact's star scene.
I have also noticed the geometry problems that this TV has been notrious for but only because I used video essentials tests. But for $300 dollars on a 27" with component video am I being too picky or should I demand better and return the TV and get something else? Has anyone had similiar experiences and fixed it if you did what did you do?
from what I have been told the toshiba tv is almost exactly the same, (made in mexico but different labels put on each you know the story)
anyways is toshiba a better brand? I also heard panasonic was rated best in reliablity by consumer reports.
Im just looking for some opinions |

If I'm remembering correctly it was Sanyo or something like that--Philips Magnavox did well too. But Toshiba ranked ahead of Panasonic--in fact, a Toshiba was ranked as the #1
tv, w/ several Sony's and JVC's taking the next 6 spots or so.
I had a Panasonic 27d10 and didn't notice the bars. I think its a good tv for the money. However, I actually bought both it and the Toshiba and set them up at the same time w/ a splitter in my livingroom to test them. No question the Toshiba has the better picture, and I returned the Panasonic. I believe Panasonic makes Quasar televisions, but I've never heard the Toshiba thing. My Toshiba doesn't say anything about Mexico anywhere--actually it says made in USA by Toshiba America. I believe the tubes are made in Horseheads, NY, if I'm remembering correctly. |
