| DVD-Receiver = no sound | torsten Mar 23, 2001 6:24 AM | | Like to know why I'm not getting any sound when I hook up my DVD player to the receiver. I'm hooking up the toslink cable from my DVD player into the optical in of my Denon AVR-3600. When I hit the DVD button on the front panel, the 'digital surround' light comes on but there is no sound. Anybody got an idea of what's going on. Thanks in advance. |

If your DVD player is capable of DD and/or DTS, you will also need to set it to output these signals. DTS needs to be set to "bitstream" output and DD just needs to be set to Dolby Digital output. Refer to your DVD's manual for details. |

such as optical coax. analog try selecting the right pacth cord if you can, it's the only thing I can think of |

Also,on a lot of recievers, you have to designate which digital signal is for what component,at least you do on mine....

| re: DVD-Receiver = no sound | Top Cat Mar 28, 2001 7:37 AM | | I hve a Denon 3801 and I hooked my DVD the other night via the optical out from DVD to optical in on the 3801 and no sound came out. I checked the Set-Up menu for the Denon and I had set the Digital part to the DVD as optical but sund still wasn't working.
I then pushed the "Auto" button on the Denon's front and the sound started. I don't know if your Denon has the "Auto" button on it, but what it does is automatically switch the receiver to the proper input source.
Hope this helps. |
