The modification of your DVP-S9000ES is unable to cope with the new RCE (Region Coding Enhancement) system used on more recent Columbia TriStar R1 DVDs, which is designed to defeat most DVD players with automatic region selection. The sort of modification you need will not be cheap (up to $250AU) and will almost certainly void your warranty, but offers a few other benefits such as user restriction override (allowing you to switch languages on the fly, skip FBI warnings etc.)
In Australia, try the DVD Shop (ww.dvdshop.com.au) or in the UK, Techtronics (www.techtronics.com).
For more information about the new RCE system, take a look at www.michaeldvd.com.au and www.dvdplaza.com.au.
