Some find the horns "harsh"...I ended up with Diva's by Swan and I am delighted. Great clarity and detail. IMHO they sound better than they look, and I think they look great. You have lots of options in your price range, enjoy the search. You can see them here.

Klipsch are very good speakers, but you have to be careful what your Amp/Receiver sound like with them. Some Amps/Receivers tend to be on the bright side. With the Klipsch horns, thats not a good thing. You need to match them up with good smooth equipment. I own an all Klipsch speaker system. I found good components that match up very well with them. I suggest you try to demo the Klipsch speakers with what you have to run them... see how you like them.

For that kind of money you have ALOT of options on some very nice speakers. I agree w/ the others on Klipsch--you love'em or hate'em. See how they sound w/ your equipment if you can and just try listening to those and others and see what you like--don't go by what you read or you hear people say--its how you like the sound that matters. The Klipsch can sound good but can have a tendency to be bright, as someone else said. And the horns can make placement/height more of an issue. I kind of like Polk Audio or Boston Acoustic speakers, but there are lots of good choices out there. You don't have to spend a fortune to get good sound.
