Audio with Rabbit Ears4runner58

I put this in the "older version" area of posts and then realized there are two seperate systems here. Thought I might catch another suggestion from this area.

I cannot get local TV through my RCA DSS unit so I have to use rabbit ears for local TV. When using my DSS, the audio goes to my HT AMP and things work great. I am afraid to try it but it seems to me when using the rabbit ears that I could take the RCA audio OUT jacks (L and R)from my TV and plug them into an audio input jack (L and R) on my receiver (like the VCR "in" audio jacks). Then, by selecting VCR as my source, would it then play the audio through my HT speakers? Like I said, it makes sense to me but I don't want things to go up on smoke so I'm looking for some help before using the trial and ERROR method.

That is what are RCA plugs are for. To plug in your audio or video equipments. DAAAAAA.....

If this were the the case, why don't recievers have RCA audio "in" jacks labled wtih "TV"? If it were so obvious, I would not have to plug my TV into my VCR RCA audio "in" jacks. I was concered about a voltage mis-match. Try plugging an RCA "out" cd player into a Phono RCA "in" jack. They are built for different input levels and it won't work.

Sorry 4Runner58

I did not get the excact meaning of your first post, it was too general.

All audio RCA input, except Phono input, have same electronic specification, and input impedance( That is industry standard or you might not be able to play your TV thru your stereo). Phono input not only have different voltage input but also different impedance input. here is specification from my Amp:

CD, Tape, VCR, TV, etc.......Inputs;
10-70 khz frequency responce @ +-3 dB
Input impedance is 22 K Ohms......Input voltage 27mV

Phono input only;
RIAA standard Curve Frequency responce @ +-0.8 dB
Input impedance is 47 K ohms.........Input voltage 0.4 mV

VCR audio input jacks on your amp could have been called TV, computer audio, Uaxillary, VCR or whatever. All of them are same.

Good luck and sorry for my previos post. I was too quick to judge. That is one bad habbit of mine.
Sorry......4runner58

Pope,

Thanks for the help. So Phono is the only odd-ball in the group - the one I happen to encounter. Good thing not many Phonos left. Mine is in a box.

I'll try it tonight when I get home.

Brad
Good luck good buddy. (nt)pope
