Can these 2 units be combined? If so does anyone have any comments?

Yes they can be combined.I have the 4800 as well and I have the Sherbourn 5/1500 providing the muscle. That is an outstanding amplifier and it will sound great with the 4800.
I'm doing the same thing...........BK

I have the 4800, and ordered the Rotel RMB-1095 5 channel amp, and will be picking it up this Wed. As much as I've always loved the sound of the 4800, I have upgraded to B&W CDM's, and figure they will benefit that much more by having a pure amp supply the power.

Thank god for those preouts...........

Any amp with the same rated output should work fine. I am using an older Classe Audio amp (way superior detail and bass response then the good built in amp) with my 4800 driving my mains. Might be getting a Adcom 7400 (100x5) for the other channels if it demo's well in my system. The 3BST is a good reliable amp, but see if you can try before u buy since for some Bryston's tend to be a little bright sounding.
