| 7.1 THX side/back speakers | BJFlatley Mar 26, 2001 7:28 AM | | Do 7.1 THX standards recognize a certain type of speakers for side and back channels - dipole vs pointsource.
I am thinking of using two point source speakers for each side channel wired in parallel. This arrangement would put an indirect and wide "sweet spot" at the ideal listener position. Can I expect to get a similar front to back to front sound swirl as I would get with front/rear firing diploles?
Any comments would be greatly appreciated. |

If you want to use 2 direct speakers on each channel, keep in mind you will present a lower resistance to your amp (2 8-ohm speakers in parallel presents a 4 ohm load to the amp), which may not be happy with that. If you don't want to use thx surrounds but want the diffuse surround envelopement, try a decent pair of bipole speaker. |
