I think most 777ES owners like myself will tell you that this receiver comes pretty close to the performance of the 9000 series separates. So, with $600 separating the two units, I'd tell you to go with the 777. I'm not knocking the 9000, I just think the 777 is a better value. The only significant difference I can see is that, like all separates, the 9000 will be easier to upgrade. Just my two cents.

If you check the message boards I think you will be better off with the separates the TA-N9000ES amp is astounding and in no way could be the same (as some would suggest) as the amplifier in the 777ES even if it was two separate power supplies IMO always makes a big difference, also the BLT mode on the 9KES amp allows unparalleled performance when using 2 or more of these amps which I highly suggest. The 777ES is probably one of the best Receivers ever built for any price but I don't think they compare to the separates ant the software upgrades are far more refined on the 9K combo, BTW only get a 2.01 9K or 1.03 777.

Try these links for a message board that caters to these two units specifically.
