Which center channel?Jay1

Currently have the following:
Yamaha RX-V496 receiver
Toshiba 1600 DVD
JVC 27D201
Paradigm atoms (fronts)

Am am now considering buying a center channel, either the Paradigm 170 or 370. My question is I want something that will match my atoms as fronts for the next little while but will not have to be updated when I buy mini monitors and move my atoms to the rear. I have read the paradigm website recommended systems which says either center channel can be used with the minis, so now i am really confused. Any suggestions or comments would be a great help
Thanks Jay

Depending on which system is more important to you and what financial limitation you are imposing on this I would recommend matching the drivers in the speaker be one of your selection criteria.

Thus if you want your current system to be its best then go with the cc170 (drivers match the atoms). If you are just phaseing in a higher end system then I would get the cc370(drivers match the mini monitors). The objective here is to timbre match the speakers. That is if you were to put a constant sound into a speaker and move it across your speakers you don't want to be able to distinguish each speaker.

So if you want the system to sound the best when you have the mini-monitors get the cc370 otherwise get the cc170.

The suggested systems pardigm displays factor in budget. If you want seamless sound ignore these for the most part and make sure all your drivers match.

My system
cc170
atoms
adp170s

if you do the research you will notice all drivers in this system are exactly the same. All the tweeters are:
19mm (3/4in) CMC™ ceramic/metal composite dome
all the midrange drivers are:
140mm (5-1/2in) polypropylene cone, die-cast chassis

However without the sub the system costs $750 which to some people would be too much.

In the end its up to your ear and wallet.

enjoy
