| SVS - HSU subs | ramrod May 17, 2001 2:52 PM | | I am looking for a sub for my HT/Home audio system. I have read some good posts about the SVS subs- are you using a PC or CS sub? I have considered the 25-31 (both PC and CS lines). I am using a Yamaha RXV800, and have an old yammie stereo that I could run the 25-31cs from-(but is the powered version better?). I have also read many good reviews about the HSU Research VTF-2. It runs a couple hundred cheaper. What are the thoughts about these subs? Cost isnt the factor - but I cant see myself (actually cant see my wife letting me- spend over $700 for a sub. thanks --rod |

I'd go with the SVS subs. Both the HSU VTF-2 and 25-31PC (or CS) are solid performers. The SVS ones will come closer to giving you the most power, IMO. I have dual 20-39CSs and love 'em. Keep an eye out on the used market for those subs. The CS subs can take 300 watts of power but the PC subs have a crossover, phase control, etc.
Perhaps your best bet is to contact Tom or Ron (they post quite frequently at HTF) and ask them. They will tell you the best way to go, even if it isn't with one of their subs. |
