| Recent evaluation of Denon 2800 DVD player. | HT Nut May 18, 2001 1:04 AM | | ound&Vision magazine did a full test report in their June issue. Although they like the new upgraded Denon with the new Chip, but they also had some bones to pick with this DVD player.
The first problem that was noticeable more often than not was in scene with bright, saturated colors that had visual distracting problems especially from it progressive-Scan Component video output. They don't say what kind of problem, but they say it is noticeable.
The second problem, off course with less degree was the sharpness of picture which said to be soft, due to its steep roll off luminance frequency response as compare with other player that have dead-flat luminance response.
The third problem-they blame this for shortcoming of this generation of MPEG video decoder in general-was the streaking of colors along the sharp vertical color changes describe as shadow phantom floating above horizontal color lines which was not a problem with more expensive DVD players.
Any comments are welcome. |
