Does TV's come with progressive scan?Polper

Hi. I just purchased a Pioneer DV 37 player and is about to purchase a TV. I'm thinking of a 36" widescreen TV-set. And I'm a bit concerned about the Progressive Scan part. Do you know any TV's out there with this feature. Any info is highly apreciated.

Thanks.

Any TV that accept a 480p signal is progressive scan capable. Basically any HDTV or HDTV ready TVs offer this ability.

If the TV is not HDTV, but it will accept progressives signal( 480p), it is called Enhance-Definition TV or a less technical term, Medium-Definition TV.

Take care

To put it in a simple term, 480p refer to completion of one picture frame( full screen)at 1/60 of a second in a progressive maner-line by line-as oppose to 480i ( interlaced)which refer to completion of on picture frame( full screen) at 1/60 of second by odd( 1,3,5,7,etc) lines and then by even lines(2.4.6.8.etc) at another 1/60 of a second, or vice versa, for total of 1/30 of a second for full frame screen.

As you can see it will take less time( 1/60 of a second) in a progressive-scan method for full screen view( all 480 lines) than full screen view for interlaced scan( 1/30 of second). This is the reason for better picture quality with progressive scan.

I hope I didn't throw you off as this topic can get very complicated.
