| Component Video vs S. Video | vert310 May 18, 2001 6:18 PM | | Can you tell me which is better, component video vs. S video? Because I want to see if i want to buy a receiver that will support component. I have a mitsubishi dd3000 that has a component video output so i was wondering. Thanks. |

| Agree | Smokey May 19, 2001 11:00 PM | | Also it is worth mentioning that superiority of Component video over S-video is more apparent on larger TVs ( RPTV) than smaller TVs ( tube). |
| re: Component Video vs S. Video | 4runner58 May 19, 2001 1:10 PM | | I have learned that I can't do RCA into my reciever from a video device and S-Video out from my reciever to my monitor/TV. The message boards tell me that this is the case with MOST recievers. I happen to have a Yamaha RX-V800 (HTR-5280). Is the same true for component video to the monitor? This is something to consider in that if vert310 were to route the video through the reciever and use the component OUT to the monitor, ALL of the video INPUTS (DVD, Game Player, DSS,...) would have to be component also. It only takes one device that does not support component out to force a downgrade of the connection between the reciever and the monitor. So far I am moving forward with S-video in and S-video out. |
