problem with Toshiba 2705 or DVD disk?kat

I just purchased a toshiba 2705 after reading a lot of the reviews on this site. It seemed that a lot of people who had trouble with their dvd player noticed it on X-Men disks...so I rented it and tried it. At about chapter 9, it went to chapter 8 instead of 10. We skipped to chapter 10 and after playing the chapter, it went to 9, not 11, etc... We eventually stopped the player, opened and closed the drawer, and started playing from chapter 12 without a problem. Next day, let it play all the way through...no problem. Again, today, no problem...

SO, MY QUESTION IS: is this a normal gliche common to dvd players? is it an indication of potential problems with this player or was it a fluke? in other words, do I take it back and buy the runner-up choice or keep the thing?

My thinking? Evidence points to the disk. 1- It is a rental. 2-You mention other people having trouble with said disk itself. 3- I personally have never seen such a glich, such as this,--skipping backwards, on any player--Anybody else? 4- Judging just one disc would be a mistake in my book, try some other disc's as well. Naturaly if the problem persits, then a return of the player would be a more plausible decision, with warranty in hand.
