Though you may want to see if you can get the Take 5.2. If not, the 5.1 is good. Perhaps go with some Paradigm Titan speakers as your mains and the CC-170 center along with Atom rears. Regardless you should see a drastic improvement.

I have the Take 5 set up with a Yamaha rx-v800 receiver in my apartment. sounds great for home theater but does lack with music. I was able to get the Take 5 with the 10" subwoofer instead of the 8". Since my Yamaha' crossover is at 90 and can direct the LFE to both the main speakers and subwoofer I use an 8" subwoofer using speaker level connections and set the sub's crossover to help with the midbass and still have the .1 track going to the 10" sub. Helps with music and TV. I do like my Take 5 system but every once in a while I wish i would have saved up and got the Encore or the Def Techs. I would recommend the Take 5 system but please do your own comparison.

I had the privilege of owning the Energy Encores and PSBs. The PSBs sounded better than the Encores and I ended up selling evrything to UPGRADE. To make a long story short, I ended up with the BIC Venturi speakers since I had a tight budget because I had locked up some cash elsewhere. Not for one minute do I miss the Encores. The PSBs did sound better then the BICs but at a much higher price.
I am impressed with their construction and their frequency range even in the bookshelfs. They sound way better than their price and I have the Denon 3801. I might upgrade the crossovers sometime in the future but they sound good. Just my $.02.
Get a good subwoofer though.
