|  DVD Sound Delayed Behind Picture | edf Aug 13, 2001 10:09 AM | | I have a B&K Reference 20 PreAmp and Sony S3300 DVD player. Both are Dolby Digital (5.1) and DTS capable. I have a digital coax cable running from the DVD to the preamp and an S-Video running to the TV. When I watch some DVDs (not all) the sound is noticeably trailing behind the picture. This is coming out of the front and center speakers. This is not effected by the rear delay. Does anyone know what is going on or how I can fix things? |

|  DVD Lip synch | Audio Video Fan Aug 13, 2001 2:22 PM | | How old is the DVD player, if it's still covered under the Mfr's P/L warranty call SONY @ 800-224-SONY. This is a common problem that can generally be fixed with a firmware chip update. My DVP-530d 1yr P-L was fixed for free by a local SONY service shop after I called to get verification of the problem with my particular model. Just a note do not let them duck the issue ! In reading some other 'SONY' DVD reviews on this site they called and were given the run around at first. Ask for a supervisor if you have to. Looks like more SONY owners are aware of these problems now and it's got to be costing SONY a few bucks in repairs-upgrades.

|  DVD Lip synch | edf Aug 17, 2001 10:28 AM | | The lip-synch problem is on their web page. I got the DVD player 2 Xmas' ago as a gift so it's been well over one year and past the P&L warranty. I called the 800 number and they said to send it in for repair. After they review it, it will either be a free repair or $176 but couldn't tell me anything more than that. I then wrote a note to the "contact us" on Sony's web page and after a couple days a got a reply saying they don't resovle customer support issues. (what do they do?) After reading other comments about Sony it seems I am not the only one to get this poor quality of service. I am very disappointed in Sony. It is doubtful I will ever buy a Sony product again. Thanks for your help.
