| Denon AVR-3801: Is The Following A Good Deal? | gladtrix Aug 13, 2001 2:55 PM | | Now that the Denon AVR-3802 is available for $1200, a local retailer is offering the Denon AVR-3801 for $700. However, they only have display models left. Instinctually, I am apprehensive about purchasing a display model. Do any of you have experience with purchasing display models? Any words of wisdom? Do you think that this is a great deal? I would love to save $500 and do without the extra 5 watts per channel and DPL-II.
Your advice is much appreciated!
Cheers. |
| Someone taoday posted that they got the 3802 for $799 | Josh Studrawa Aug 13, 2001 3:10 PM | | online, authorized. Was it 6thavenue.com? TheDog got credit, but forgot who posted.
$700 for a demo? I'd make sure I got 15-20% discount (what I ask for) for a demo/floor model. And some stores are selling the 3801 for $658 (previous days postings).
I'd shop around a bit more. The 3802 is almost within that range, so it's no big deal if you pass on the 3801, IMO. |
| more than a one liner | Adam Aug 13, 2001 3:42 PM | | There ya go. I agree completely, I would ask for 15-20% as well. That would make the cost 560.00. At 560.00 vs. 800.00 for the 3802 its a no brainer especially if the 3801 comes with a warranty. |
| re: more than a one liner | gladtrix Aug 13, 2001 5:14 PM | | I believe you infer that the Denon AVR-3802 is available somewhere for only $800. If this assumption is correct, would you please indicate where.

| re: more than a one liner | Adam Aug 13, 2001 5:33 PM | | 6th avenue electronics is offering it. It is not currently listed on their site, you have to call. |
| But are they authorized to sell online? | nick4433 Aug 13, 2001 5:40 PM | | |
| Where's your NT | Adam Aug 13, 2001 5:55 PM | | Anyhoot 6th ave is a authorized dealer, the actual sale is not done online from my understanding. You call 6th ave you give them the info and they ship for 799.99 + shipping. How was your weekend? |
| Are they a true authorized online/offline dealer... | Josh Studrawa Aug 13, 2001 6:12 PM | | Or are they trying to bypass Denon's "no-one online is authorized to sell our stuff" policy? Or are all authorized dealers "authorized web-dealers" as well?
Tweeter can sell me a 3801 by listing it on the web, right? Does the company have to be a "real, concrete" company or can they be a drop-shipper with a website and an 1-800 number?
So they post a website price, then say "call and order with web price". Not an online sale, right? Well, it don't take an Alex Tribeck to figure out what legal argument Denon can make.
Not really sure how to ask what I mean, but hopefully someone can piece it together.
Whatever I am getting at get this verified by Denon before you possibly throw away your warranties... |

| re: No... Read the post | Kirit Aug 13, 2001 6:54 PM | | The crazyedie has listed 3802 for 785. 6th Ave has that for 799. They also have few 3801 left and they are selling for 750. There web site is not good but take a look it is www.6ave.com. I happen to have an Email from one of their salesman Phis S. His email address is PhilS@6ave.com. Email Phil. He is a nice guy to deal with or call them and bargain for any model and you will get for even less then that. Demo model for 700 is not a good deal. There is no you should pay 1200 for 3802.
Hope this has helped.
