Kinda like the movies that aren't available for critics to review in time for the Friday newspapers. |

The store (which is an authorized Denon dealer) recommended Bose over Denon and Yamaha stating that their 'technoloy was better as can be explained by the smaller speakers'. Must have vending machines w/ crack rock in the employee lounge there...

After demoing some fine, fine gear I noticed the Bose hose gear sitting in the main lounge. I asked the kid who was helping me (to be honest he was somewhat knowledgable and nice) why they had that chit there. He responded, "we know it sucks but management want's it out there. We sell a ton of that crap and make a killing on the mark up. No discounts on that junk ever and the fools keep lapping it up."
I rest my case.

Aug 14, 2001 7:35 PM | | Soooooo many people obsess about Bose. They're not to my taste either, but they're not a terrible sounding device either. There are a lot of mass marketed brands out there that pitch (no pun int.) to certain preferences. Overpriced? Oh yeah, what the market will bear.
But why get so exercised about it? There are countless good choices still available for all of us--bad money has not yet driven out good in this realm--and if someone else's taste isn't being forced down our ear canals we just have to accept people's insistence on making choices we wouldn't. Wanna really get upset about something? Check out the drek people have been mortgaging their futures on to live in for the last generation. And no, if you need a new place to live in you really don't have many meaningful options; you know--safe, sturdy, and affordable. You've gotta accept ugly, cheesy and bank-breaking. Don't like Bose? bfd. There are bigger fish to fry out there boys & girls. |
