DVD and Sat. both have svideo out. Do I need to hook to receiver or directly to tv? Salesman at circuit city said that I did not have to have a receiver with svideo inputs and outputs. I don't know, can anyone help?

If your TV have two S-Video inputs then you can go directly from Sat and DVD player to your TV. But if you have only one S-Video input on your TV, then having a Receiver with S-Video switching capability might be the way to go since your Receiver will do video switching for you.

Smokey,

Is there such a thing like a Y splitter which would allow connectivity for 1 output and 2 inputs for S-Video?

TIA <>

Hi slinger

I don't think there is such a thing as "Y-splitter per say" for S-Video connection since each two S-Video feed line have to be electrically isolated as not interfere with each other signal feed.
Radio shack got one S-Video switches box which would accommodate for four S-Video with appropriate audio cable( it will do audio switching along with video) for $39..Cat#...15-1966
I am sure you can find a two S-Video switch box on the net at cheaper price.

Good luck.

I bought two of this same type of S-video swith box for my system. It is noteworthy that they are two-way switch boxes. You can switch one s-video input to one of three outputs, *or* three s-video inputs into one output. Very flexible and convenient.
