What 27' TV to buy for about $300 ?Hoang Hoa Tham

I'm looking for a 27' TV
but my budget is so short... I know it's hard to find one for that $300. Please somebody help me. I can spend $50 more if I can't find one.
All I need is a good picture quality TV, not many features.
Is it safe to buy it online?
One more question, what is a decent brand name for a tupe TV ? Sony? Toshiba? or JVC?

Thanks so much in advance

Tweeter has it. They had it on display a month ago, but no stock. Said it was too new. Why display something you cannot sell? I guess so some moron (me) can refer people back to the store?

Check it out. IMO, there's no reason to spend more then that on a 27" TV.

Hi Tham

TVs are finicky items and by buying TV locally you are insuring your self prompt service in case of exchange or return as oppose to ship it back and forth between you and on line retailer.
Samasung 27 inch TV have received rave reviews for it low price and picture quality but I am afraid it only carry three months warranty. Here is couple of more options you will have for slightly more money, but these TVs carry one year warranty and came in on top of the list of 27 inch TVs tested by ConsumerReport magazine.

JVC 27230...$329
Toshiba 27A41...$350
JVC...27D302...$400

Good luck.

Tham,

Keep in mind most retailers will negotiate. I recently bought a JVC27D502 as a gift for my cousin's wedding for $400 including 8% sales tax. The unit was listed as $429.

good luck.

Check the link.

It has your answer. You should look at the Toshiba A31 or 41 or JVC D series 302 model. Get details and take the price to Sears for match.
All the best.

Have to mention that online could and most likely cost you more than from a local retailer. I went to http://www.mysimon.com and looked up the JVC, Panasonic, and Sony Wega 36" models. All costed more when you add in the shipping. Online dealers are very sneaky. They low ball the price but then charge $250 for shipping. Sony Wega KV-36FS13 was the only television that could be had for less online than the superstores. http://www.love4digital.com had it for about $1155 with shipping(shipping was only $24.95). The superstores were selling it for $1300. The other online store was selling it for $1279 with shipping. Of course that's just the price. Odds are with poor QC now a days, getting a defective set or damaged set is very good. Much easier to exchange with local shops.

My preference is towards JVC. The D series offers features that make it a bit more compatible over the JVC standard series and the cost difference is usually very low.

I have an 8 year old 27" JVC that has minor problems with overload on it's video composite input, but other than that it's excellent and using it today. When a bright flash comes up, the televisions picture scrambles. In my thinking, it could be a poor IC or transistor that's overloading or not responding fast enough from a high video voltage durring those scenes. I never fixed it because I upgraded to a 32" Sony, HUGE mistake! IMO, Sony = Garbage!

Now I have a JVC AV36D302 with an excellent picture. Geometry kind of bugs me, but all big sets are plagued with geometry problems, and from todays auditions with test patterns on DVD, my wasn't the worst by far, Sony Wega was!

So on a smaller sets you shouldn't have the geometry problems plus you should still maintain the awesome quality of my larger set. I would recommend the AV27D302, by judging "my larger set", and my older 27" set, but not the AV27D302.

CC had the JVC AV27D302 a while back for about $320(could had been on sale, don't know).

FYI - I have dealt with love4digital.com and I can assure you that they are not selling for what they advertise at. The company love4digital.com are crooks & scammers so beware. Bait & Switch.

Check with Better Business Bureau www.bbb.com before buying from these jokers.

My kids both have Zeniths. Both under $300, both have a respectable and neither has given me any trouble at all in the few years we've had them.
Gotcha!woodman
