| Pioneer Elite like or dislike? | Paul_in_CT Oct 5, 2001 4:09 AM | | I don`t see much talk about the pioneer elite series. A friend of mine really likes their TV`s and recently bought a reciever. I haven`t had a chance to go over and check it out yet. I was wondering what everyone`s take was on their equipment. |

First to get 6.1 you need an external amp, whereas the 2802 for 800 dollars (retail) probably only around 500-600 online doesn't require this. Also I heard they run really hot. For this price range they should have better heat sinks. I'm really skeptical of equipment that runs very hot, Pioneer says that this is the nomal operating temp of their receivers. With a receiver that runs real hot you can't put it in a rack and i worry about the internal components and wires getting overheated. Anyways for the price I'd go with Onkyo, Denon, or Yamaha. The yamaha will probably give you more connections for the price and very good quality. The Denon and the Onkyo will probably have fewer options than the Yamaha at the same price, but they are built very very well. |
| re: Very happy with mine... | briney Oct 5, 2001 3:47 PM | | I decided to purchase the VSX-24TX after comparing the similar models from Onkyo, Denon, and Sony. The decision was based on the fact that the Elite had THX certification along with 5.1 capability and other feature laden goodies. In regard to it running hot- Most of the other units had the same issues. but the other units either ran hotter causing it to shut down (Sony ES)as well as problems with audible humming from ground loop problems (Onkyo), and the Denon was hard to get and had it's own quality control problems because demands for the units.
I have had my Elite for almost two years and have not had any problems at all (the 2 year warrantee is comforting)
I hope this answers some of your questions. |

You can't go wrong with the 30TX series its their top of the line units and all of the units 20/30TX are THX rated. For my,IMHO, I love my system and it keeps suprising me each time I put new music and DVD's through it.
