Denon AVR-2801 - speaker auto protector circuitharrys1

I recently bought a 2801 and hooked them to my Mission 753's as fronts and Mission 77c1 for the center, with currently no subwoofer or surrounds connected (setting = off). The 2801 speaker auto protector setting seems to consistently kick in around -12db +/- 4db depending on input. I've biwired the fronts, and used the "large" setting for them, w/ center set as small.
THe 2801 is running cool, w/ lots of circulation all around.
Has anyone experienced this problem, know why this may be happening? Any solutions/tips would be much appreciated.
ps. my mission's used to handle a lot more power w/ my previous denon PMA-880R stereo amp.(and sounded much louder!).
Only a guess...Jimmy Magick

Usually the protection circuit kicks in when the speakers are shorting out. Try reconnecting them and be careful of any stray strands of wire. Good luck.
