Old question ... needs answer..Gar
Oct 8, 2001 7:18 AM
Hi
I´ve got a non-active sub to go with a pair of Magnat front speakers + rear and center. The question I have is, since i´ve got a non-active sub, should I have the front speakers set to "large" or "small"?
I´m running these through a Harman Kardon 300rds.
At the moment i´m running it at "large" which seems to give me power in volume but does that mean I dont get any sound output through the sub?

Are these satellite speakers? I would keep the setting at Large and the Subwoofer to "No" in your receiver setup. I am assuming you have connected your L/R speaker outs from your receiver to your sub and then connected the L/R speaker outs from your sub to the L/R main speakers.
If you have connected your speakers in the way I have described them then I would definitely reccomend you set them to "large".
Since you have a non-active sub you don't really have a choiceMarkw*

You DO have two speaker level inputs on the sub, right? If so...

The sub should be hooked up to the speaker termianals of your front right/left pair of speakers and you should set your speakers to large. This way all the bass will be directed to the front speakers and be available to the sub.

Yeah, this is what i´ve done, right, seems i´ve got it good then =)
anyway, I´m thinking of getting an active sub but i´ve listened to several subs and I have to say..allthough they sound good they also sometimes tend to "overload" whatever setting you put them on..right or wrong?, buy or stay?, thanx!!
