Circuit city have Hitachi 32 inch HDTV (HIT 32UDX10S) for sale $1199 (This week only: $100 off any purchase over $1000). According to the specification, this TV utilize 3:2 Pull-down reverse mode ( WOW) for progressive scan mode which make it owning a progressive scan DVD player unnecessary.

I just came back from CC; they have $100 off any TV over $399.

Although I did not see a Hitachi 32" on display, I did see a 53" Hitachi wide screen projection which I am very much interested in. What's your opinion on this set?
This Tv sound like a winner.Smokey

Hi Singha

I went to CC web site to get more information on this TV and it seem this baby rocks. According to specification it does "3:2 Film Correction" which I hope it mean it can up convert 480i to 480p-there is virtually no information on this TV since it is spanking brand new.
Hitachi Tube TV always have been on top of ratings (their 36 inch and 32 inch TV came on top of Consumer TV ratings) and I don't see way their RPTV wouldn't follow the same suit.

Also since RPTVs do need somewhat more tweaking and adjustment over long periods, having one year warranty as-Hitachi does-is good indication of product reliability and costumer service as product with longer warranty (as oppose to three months warranty) tend to have better costumer service also.

BTW: I checked my Sunday's brochure and it said that any thing over $1000 will get $100 off. Only $20 off from any purchases between $399-$499.

Good luck on your hunt.

>>810i active picture area for 16:9.<<

The above was listed on the Hitachi spec page. Any idea what this means?

It means it can do 16:9 squeeze.Smokey

Hi Speed

Since the resolution is rated at 800 line of resolution, I guess that specification means that it can squeeze the viewing area of 16:9 WS material to maximum vertical resolution capability of the TV.

Good luck.

I wonder what the Panasonic 32HX41 does in this regard.

I stopped by CC today and took a look at the Hitachi. I'm tempted to bring one home for a trial. (could be my trial if I spend any more $$ on HT gear anytime soon!)

I can't decide if the improved PQ is worth it to go from a 32" std. def set to a 32" digital (so I can get both the squeeze and use the progressive scan capability of my RP91).

I've not been able to see this demoed in the store yet.
I had to get one of these...speedlever

to compare to my JVC 32" analog set.

I put up some info over on the AVS forum under HDTV Hardware: 32" HDTV vs 32" analog/RP91.

http://www.avsforum.com

The jury is still out as to whether it's worth $700 more.
