| Receiver + Speakers = $1400 budget + Wife!!! | Robert6164 Jan 11, 2002 7:39 AM | | Ok here's the deal. I have a $1400 budget or wife factor for a receiver and 5.1 speaker system. After hours of research and help from this site I have come up with the following system.
Denon 1802 $375 tax included.
Atlantic Technology T-70 Satellites (fronts, center, rear only)$599 Shipping Included.
HSU VTF-2 Subwoofer (nax.com) $449 Shipping included
Total $1423
Any suggestions or opinions on this system is appreciated. I have also auditioned a system set-up by a local hi-fi shop. This system consists of : 2 pair of Energy e.XL 15's(impressive but bulky), an Energy e.XL center and an Energy e.XL S10 subwoofer. I was not impressed with the subwoofer in the Energy system. The Energy system was priced at $1450 plus tax. I'm just looking for what everyone else is looking for, Great bang for my hard earned buck. Comments please!! |

Or PSB Aphas? You could get 2 pairs of Atoms and the matching center channel for about 500 bucks, then you could get the VTF-2 sub and Denon receiver. You could also check out www.adireaudio.com. They have the Rava sub for 399 which I own and highly recommend. Another idea: go to www.ascendacoustics.com. They have a 1100 system that several posters here own and rave about (it includes the HSU VTF-2 sub). The remaining 300 of your budget would get you the entry level Onkyo receiver (494 or something like that). All these suggestions (plus the equipment you are already considering) offer great bang for the buck. |

I just finished checking that out at cheaphometheater.com and then their web site. Unfortunately with shipping it would run $1140 so I wouldn't have much left over for a receiver. Denon is definately my choice of receiver, just hadn't decided on the sound makers yet. As far as the Paradigm and Adire audio products, I will have to check out those sites and reviews. Thanks for your input. |

- 1801 from moreaudiovideo.com (an authorized dealer) for $ 289
- Ascend Acoustics 5.1 pkg for $ 1099 (i have these, they rock)
happy listening.

| re: Receiver + Speakers = $1400 budget + Wife!!! | Bryan Jan 11, 2002 1:09 PM | | Looks good. For the WAF, substitute the Adire Audio Rava. IMO, it will look better.
If you do not think you will use the preouts of the Denon, look at the Onkyo TX-DS595. Should be able to get it for $360 or so delivered from JandR.com. They are an authorized Onkyo dealer and that may save you a few bucks. |
