Denon 3801 + Amp QuestionCharlie L

I am going to purchase an amp to run with my Denon 3801. My questions are:

Do I leave the speaker wires connected to the Denon or do I switch them to the amp?

Do I need to change any settings in the Denon on screen menus?

The amp should be connected to the denon via RCA cables thru the preamp outs.
Any speakers you want to the amp to power should be hooked up to the amp.

There wont be any settings on the denon that need to be changed, although you should re calibrate the speaker levels since some will be more powerfull than other

I'm currently using the 3801 with three (modified) Kenwood 130W/chan dual mono THX amplifiers. Although the power rating is only slightly larger than the Denon's 105W/chan, the difference in performance is substantial: better dynamics with less compression on loud passages, smoother top end, etc.

The biggest compromise with any A/V receiver is in the power supply and current carrying capacity of its output devices. No way can a single supply duplicate the performance of three dual mono amps with SIX transformers weighing a total of 90 lbs.!!!
