Could someone give me a few suggestions or recommendations for a good progressive dvd player that costs no more than $300?I just bought a new sony ns700p. I still havent opened it. I have read some more reviews on it and i am worried that i might not be getting my moneys worth. I can return it if i have to. I would to know if the model i have has the Chromo Bug. If so can i get a good recommended model that doesnt have the chromo bug and has progressive scan all for no more than 300$.Any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

But seriously return it. You are much better off with a JVC S65 or S75.

Adam,

On August 26, you make the following comment with respect to progressive scan DVDs:

"At the top of the list is the Panasonic RP91 and the bottom of the spectrum would be the JVC SA60BK..."

What are the differences in your recommendations?

The 700sp costs 300.00 or so therefore I kept my reccomendations to thos in the same ball park or cheaper for the original poster. The SA65GD is identical to the SA60BK except that it is gold and not black in color. The

Now, if his budget ewre 500.00 then I would definitel say get the RP91. My picks are as follows for progressive scan DVD Players:

<300 SA65GD
300> but <475 SA65/SA60BK (if they want MP3 support) or SA75/SA70BK
475< Panasonic RP91 or the Denon 2800

do you know if JVC's sa85 dvd which can play audio dvd is identicle to the 70/75 model? Are the chips used for progressive scan the same. It seems that this player is quite modestly priced.

I know Sears do carry Panasonic RP-56 Progressive-Scan DVD player. If your local Sears does match Internet price, then you will have yourself one hell of deal on this player. If they don't, just order it from following link.

The pioneer DV-37 is a progressive player with 3:2 pulldown. The only problem is its high price.

I mistook the DV37 for the C36 I belive it is which is the line doubler version. In any event the DV37 is still a piece of garbage, not that these guysare the dfining word, but anything with a chroma bug should be overlooked.
