I have the Sony Str-de945 av receiver. I love it. However my one gripe is that when people are speaking it is at a much lower volume than sound effects, music, etc. Is there a way to better match the spoken volume to the rest of the audio?

Nov 30, 2001 11:07 AM | | I'm assuming that this reciever is either a dolby prologic or DD/DTS receiver and that you have correctly connected everything up (i.e. voices come out of the center speaker). Then, it's a simple fix, you have to raise the volume of the center channel speaker. Now for the Sony's i think it's easiest by going on the remote and somewhere on it you'll see a "center level" button for up and down, and that's all it takes. On the panel, it's a bit more complicated, you have to use that rotary knob they have and increase it that way..

I was hoping someone knew how to do to it specifically for this model, so I could go home and just do it. Hopefully they let me set it apart from the fronts. |

Nov 30, 2001 1:20 PM | | I have the STR-DE935(the previous year's model) and if the 945 uses the same remote (Remote Commander with LCD), then I can tell you how.
If you open up the panel on the remote, on the left hand side you should see a Center + and a Center - button. Press the Center + button and you'll see the word "Center" followed by a negative or positive number (If you've never adjusted this before, it will probably be 0). You can adjust the center volume as high as +10 and as low as -10. I have mine adjusted to +2 but it depends on your setup. |
