Please Help ID Audio "cut outs" on DVD viewing..........deg

I have recently noticed the audio "blanks" out once in a while on both rented and my own DVD's. It also seem that it happens earlier on the disc than later. The picture quality remains perfect. I don't know what the technical name is but it is a "br.. eak-up in the so. und." When used as a stereo CD player w sub the sound is also perfect.
I am using a HK AVR 75, a Toshiba SD 3109, Paradigm CC300, w Mini's.
tia for any advice on how to locate and correct the problem.

I'm pretty sure this is a DVD thing and some players are more sensitive to this than others. It happens to me once in a while too. It's not your a/v receiver. I think it has something to do with the DVD changing layers or something.

I'm sure someone who knows will reply. Hope this helps though.
Couple of questions...Monstrous Mike

1. What cable are you using for your digital connection?

2. Does this happen once per disc, or frequently during the same movie?

3. Are you playing DTS or DD5.1 or something else?

4. What are you audio settings for the receiver and the DVD player?

5. Does it sound like pops and clicks or just dead space with no sound?

6. Any other sound distortions?
Couple of questions...deg

Mike, thanks for the start.
1 A Monster Cable (I know it's not the choice of most but it was better than the cable in the box.....plus "the budget")
2 Seems to happen at the begining of disc, many times, and on various discs, but not ALL the time.
3 DD5.1
4 Not sure how to answer this one....
5 Just dead space w no sound.
6 None
I happened to have the posts replaced (switched out the entire plate) on the center chanel this weekend and the repair guy said he had a high end unit doing the same thing at the end od discs. He also said it was the DVD unit and may be an allignment??? Thanks for your help.
