Martin Logans for HTHurbie
Feb 21, 2002 4:30 PM
Have any of you set up your home theater using all Martin Logans? I have a pair of ML Aerius that I simply love and have been using for strictly music listening and am thinking about getting set up for HT so have started auditioning for additional speakers. If I go with ML's all around for HT, should I keep the Aerius for my mains, or use them for the surrounds and get a different ML for the mains? If I don't go with ML's all around, I am leaning toward a pair of Paradigm Studio 100's for the mains. Any thoughts or opinions would be much appreciated!

IMHO you are comparing apples to oranges. I think the Paradigms arent even in the same league as the ML's. I have a pair of Ascents and a Cinema center. What I get from those front three is just outrageous. I am in the process of getting some ML's for rear speakers. (made this decision because of the sacd/dvd-a upgrade coming soon)The Logans create a huge soundstage and are crystal clear. Before the Logans I had a pair of Klipsch KLF-20's and I was just blown away by the difference. Of course the final factor is your ears. Just go listen to both. Only problems with the ML's are spacing and the quality of the equipment behind them(must be good)...but I am sure you are aware of that since you already own a set of ML's. If you can swing it I would move your Aerius's to the back and go for the Ascents upfront. If you thought you liked music through the Aerius's wait till you hear the Ascents!
Just my $.02

have to agree with clark.
Personally I am using aerius i's for my fronts. Sounds great. Try to make your other speakers match the aerius as much as possible. Clark had the right idea with the cinema center and the asents. but if you cant afford it get a ribbon center or something similiar

Thanks to both of you for your replies! I think that is exactly the route I am going to take. I have looked and listened to other speakers but keep coming back to my ML's!!
