| MTS Stereo Reception...is it worth the xtra $$?? | 9Gturns Feb 23, 2002 6:35 PM | | I've decided to look at picking up either the JVC HR-S7900
VCR or the HR-S7800 VCR given that I can find both locally. The HR-S7900 has DTS (I don't even really know what it does) and the 7800 does not. I'm guessing the prices will be about $50 lower on the 7800. Is the 7900 worth the extra cash? |

Hi-Fi vcrs do record or output broadcasted stereo signals using MTS. The quality of the MTS audio is dependent on the quality of the program transmitted and the quality of the broadcasting or cable company's feed of that program. You will need a stereo or some kind of surround sound active or passive matrix system to determine the quality that you are receiving. I find that the transmission of many over the air shows in stereo and surround sound are not up to parr. Those I record on a cheap vcr on the ep speed and slouch on my couch to watch and listen to these shows in mono for that is all they are worth. TV series that are sold as sets on tapes or dvds that have had stereo and/or stereo surround sound capabilites are best listened on these formats. |
