Feb 24, 2002 8:36 AM | | you don't need a pro reviw. The RP56 is the bare bones Panasonic progressive scan model. It offers rather ood picture at a decent price. I find it to look a bit cincy and cheap however, which is why I will typically reccomedn the JVC SA75 or SA65GD for those on a budget.
Progressive scan is one of those things that everyone talks about but few can actually see. I have one hooked up to a Panasonic HDTV ready TV and I find only on SOME movies can I actually tell the difference.
Don't be bothered that your eyes can't notice the difference. |

I guess the shootout is a professional review, but the review covers interlaced performance only. With the Faroudja chip, the RP56 is a steal at about $200. I think you made the best choice in your price range in regards to video quality. |
