53" vs 43" HD Projection TVHeyEddie

Our 20 x 21 Family Room is nearing completion and it's decision time on which TV to purchase. We're settled on brands we are considering but can't decide on which size to get. The viewing set up will put us about 13' away from the TV. Is there much difference (10")? I don't want to cut corners here but the 53 is an awfully big box. Any Opinions?

Although I say the bigger the better!

I have a room about your size(12' X 24') and I'm holding out for a Pioneer 53" wide screen myself.

Try this, take measurements of the big one and construct a cardboard model of it and place it where you want and see what happens. Also when viewing at the store, look at the ceiling and count the tiles from the TV to where you would be in your room.(tiles are 1'sq or 18" X 36" usually) Or a tape measure will work if you think of it at the time.

"Is there much difference (10")?"

It's like going from a 27" to a 36", you'll see a world of difference IF the resolution is good.

I'd go 53"_Luke_

My room is about the same size but I sit slightly closer at about 11 feet to the screen. I got a 55" and it's really a good size. Movie-watching is an incredible experience! Exactly why I got HT.

I'm about 10' from my 47" set and it's definitely not too big. In fact, given the clarity, I would say that I could have gone into the 50"+ zone and still been very happy. I'd say 43" is too small if you're looking for maximum impact.
