HDTV for a studentleon256

I am looking to buy an HDTV this summer and was considering between direct view and RPTV. However, I'm a college student and would be transporting my TV in the fall. I am convinced of the quality and brightness that RPTV sets can provide but am worried about bad convergence damage during the move. But a widescreen DV would be very heavy, right?

Am I paranoid? Is direct view the solution? Am I blowing away hard earned summer cash ?

I'm a college student, save your cash and buy something realy nice when you graduate. Just think of things like roomates and parties around your new TV. You don't want to be hauling it back and forth each 9 months.
