I was looking at Sunday paper and I noticed that Circuitcity have Panasonic wide screen RPTV 47WX49 on sale for $1699 with a free DVD player (I bet the free DVd player is not RP-56).
They also have Hitachi 43 inch HD RPTV 43FDX108 on sale for $1499...wow!

You might have been right after all. With the prices for HD RPTV falling the way it is, it just might be the right time to buy a HD RPTV :)
I'm already kicking myself!!!Keith from Canada

When I bought my set in December, I paid $2800 Canadian which was a bargain basement price at the time. I've now heard rumors that Panny will be lowering their cost price by close the $1,000 Can!!! If that's the case, this set could be had for as low as $2,000 which makes the 'deal' that I got not quite so good!

By the by...if you ever want to purchase something, just wait until after I do. A month after I bought my receiver (Denon AVR-3300), both Denon and Yamaha got into a price war and their cost prices plummetted! The Yammie 995 (the receiver I almost bought) took a drop of over $500 and the Denon went down almost as much!

Oh well...got the set and I'm happy. Of course, I'd be happier if I waited but hey...that's the way the ball bounces and then comes back and hits you in the face!

Kieth, I have a couple request for purchases, since you have a drastic effect on prices, could you buy a couple things so I can get a better deal:

1) Pioneer 47A dvd player
2) Hmm maybe the panny hd rptv will work for me, but could you go buy a sony and maybe a pioneer elite so I can have better selection.

At least Kieth got a good DVD player free with his TV. I checked and the free DVD player that come with these TVs is no name brand DVD player which sell for $70-whic mean one have to turn around and buy a PDVD player for around $200 more (if don't own one already) which will bring the total price up to $2800 Can. dollar :)
But it's already started...Keith from Canada

#2 -- Since I bought my RPTV, the Sony 51" widescreen has already dropped by close to $1,000! It just happened to be the set that I would have got had it been in my price-range but, it was exactly $1K over what I wanted to spend. Lo and behold, the week that my TV was being delivered (yes, that very week!), I received a flyer from a local A/V shop that showed the "Sony TV Price Slash!"! The TV was now in my old price range!

As for #1, I'm afraid my theory of taking it up the shoot won't work...I got my DVD player for 'free' with the TV so the price of Prog. scan players won't be coming down anytime soon.

You might want to check out an Adire audio Tempest sub sometime after September though...I'll be buying one this fall and building the box myself...I fully expect a price drop after I purchase!
