Component video cable purchasingpxw03

Could anyone tell me where/what brand is good to purchase. It seems the eletronic stores only carry monster cable which are way too expensive. I saw AR component video cable at best buy, cost 60% less than monster video 2. Could anyone tell me is the monster cable is really worth the 60% more price than AR cable to offer. If yes, what are the reasons?

Thanks!

You're about to start another cable war my friend and the results are not pretty. You'll hear cables make a difference, cables don't make a difference, etc etc and a million and one reasons why. You'll hear stuff like jitter and phase shift and blah blah blah. My recommendation, since I don't want to get caught up in this (I'm sure mr.mono will though hehe :)) is to buy both try them out and if you notice a difference decide if it's worth 60% more and if not then get the AR cables. Personally I think monster is overpriced and I am happy with the AR cables but other "videophiles" would say I'm blind. But hey, I'm blind with extra money in my pocket, proven perfect color vision, and decent enough vision to get by in life.
Please, don't run away :)Mr Mono

Stay and fight for what you believe in. AR cables should be fine. They are quality made and fulfill the requirment of good video cable.

I took the "Monster Challenge" not more than a week ago and here is what I found:

The difference between Monster 1 ($79 Canadian) and Monster 2 ($159 Canadian) is minimal at best. I ran my buddies AR cable ($59 Canadian) and compared it with both and noticed no improvement or degredation in the signal at all. Of course, we were eyeballing the image and didn't use any fancy equipment but hey, we watch with our eyes!

For the record, we used 2 Panasonic RP-56 progressive scan DVD players, a Panasonic 47" HD-ready widescreen set, and ran one set of cables to one component video input and the other cable to the other component video input. We then popped in identical DVD's (Fifth Element Superbit, Shrek and Gladiator) and switched sources on the fly. We even took turns doing the test blindly and neither of us could tell which input had the more expensive Monster cables. Scientific? Nope. But it did reinforce my belief that Monster is hype!
Here's an answer... and as "scientific" as anyone needs nwoodman

I get my AR cables from Parts Express. The price is right, the service is good, the shipping is fast and the web site is ok....and I don't work for them.

No, Monster is NOT worth any additional money at allwoodman

It's a decent product but grossly overpriced. The main reason that it costs as much as it does, is so that the founder can pay for all-expenses-paid vacation trips for the most productive salesmen!

AR, Phoenix Gold, NXG, and others are all good and reasonably priced. Take your pick and never look back.

Hope this helps you
