May 7, 2002 12:15 PM
I am a new user and wondering if there is a signigicant difference between the Energy Take 5.1 and 5.2 series. I am wondering if the cost difference is worth it
Thanks

Try to listen to both of them. The 5.2 is the newer model fashioned after the Energy Encores. I have heard both sets of speakers. The Take 5.2 allows a little more flexibility with the sub adjustments and uses aluminum drivers as well as vented enclosures. There is a $100.00 difference in prices on the internet. I set out to buy either set, but locally they were $876.00. The Energys are not $326.00 better sounding to my ears. I ended up getting the AR HC 6 system for $550 locally ($700.00 retail). They work great in our 21 x 15 foot room. I have been listening to tons of CD's since I bought them. I have been recommending these things to everyone interested in a good system. Unfortunately, I found this link too late: http://www.electronicsemall.com/acresarhomth.html

I have a set of 5.2 and they sound alright as surrounds, If your looking for an entire set, look inot the M&K K5 series, they are about 1,500 for everything and they smoke the energies.
