Digital Coax Vs. OpticalDaveHK

Who prefers Digital Coax or Optical and why?

Personally I like Digital Coax, seems more professional and doesn't have the alignment problems that optical can have, but sonically I really have trouble telling the difference. Interested on your thoughts

You"re right sound wise it is impossible to tell the difference. The only difference would be the fit coax has a more secure fit than the optical that"s it. bob d

You answered the reason for using Coax "seems more professional and doesn't have the alignment problems that optical can have...". I would also add flexibility to that list also :)

While I also know that in opticals defense, it can carry more data than a coaxial, but I have only seen that in use at studios, a home theater application doesn't need that much.

While theoretically optical do have more bandwidth than coax, but it can not pump out more information than what is inputted to it. Even at studio application with full resolution of 196kh/24 at 6 channel, it will still be well below what coax and fiber optics cables are capable of :)
