Yamaha or Onkyo for HT?Night Wolf
May 9, 2002 7:18 AM
Hello, i have a cheap JVC (RX-6010) and i am compareing wo recievers in the price range, the Yamaha HTR-5540 or the onkyo 595?

this will be used only for HT as i have a very nice music system already

.i won't be using the higest quality speakers (right now, Sony and KLH, hope to get some small JBL's though, but i don't care, i have a nice music system, and that what counts)

anyone have experence with any of these? i was looking at the denon 1602, but didn't really like it

any info is cool, Thank you

For music I'd go with onkyo 595 but since you say it doesn't matter than either would probably suit your needs just fine. I perfer onkyo because I think the remote is better than the Yammy remote and the (too me) yamahas sound kinda over synthesized.
I own both Yammie and Onkyo...Worf101

Both are fine receivers that work quite well. Onkyo's have better remotes and are more "feature rich" than Yammies but Yammies are just plain bullet proof. You can't go wrong with either.

since you own both, could go go through pros and cons, and what you think is the better of the two for HT

You can get the New Onkyo tx-sr600 for $407 +26.38 s&h from www.jandr.com.
You may want to look at that one.
