I was thinking of a budget Home Theater set up based on four of these new BIC DV 84 towers since my two year old has already knocked my little satellites off the stands once, and I did it once myself. These towers weigh about 50 lbs each and come with a 7 year parts and labor warranty. They list for $798 a pair. I know they are not Klipsch or anything like that but I am thinking on using these with a Pioneer VSX-811 or something of that sort. I found them at Etronics.com for $200 a pair including shipping. Thanks for your comments.

good value when you do a cost to benefit analysis. I had a pair of DV736 before and the sound was truly amazing. Remember that at that price point the BIC is an absolutely great value and would definitely compete with speakers costing 3 times as much.
My friend purchased my 736s and he modified the crossovers himself on them and they are absolutely musical to hear now.
Of course with sound being so subjective you msy want to find out what return poilicy do they have should you need to exchange them with something else but I am sure you'll end up liking them.

While I haven't heard that particular model, I can tell you that I own several BIC bookshelf speakers, and they sound great and are a fantastic value. I just had three of them modified by Ed Frias (check out info in the Tweaks/Mods forum). He modifies the crossovers, and the results were amazing, and it was a very inexpensive mod. They will compete with much higher priced speakers.

Ed also sells the BIC DV736 towers already modified and with gold binding posts for $375/pr.

The price from etronics is a great price for good tower speakers.

Let us know what you decide.
