Hey yo, I run a Yamaha rxv800, and i usually have it turned on about 18hrs/day, and i notice that (even with low volumes) that it gets pretty hot. not searing hot, but i have no way to judge, so how do you find your receivers? If you touch the top (power suppy side) is it quite warm? Thanks!

They can get fairly warm, too warm to keep you hand on them for long. Make sure you have either plenty of air space above the unit, usually 4+ inches, or a fan to move the air around the unit. They get rid of their heat via convection, and if the air around them gets too warm, the convection currents will be minimal and the unit will run too hot. DO NOT stack other components on top of a receiver or amp. It should be the top of the stack.
Dont worry about it 18 hrs a day it will get rather warmpinetop
