| Need tips on adding my 6th (rear center) speaker... | bobbyg123 Jul 26, 2002 12:51 PM | | Like many people, I made the mistake of only pre-wiring my downstairs home theater for 5.1 Now that I'm making the move to add a new receiver that will allow me to eventually incorporate 6.1 discrete, I have to decide how to wire the darn thing! The "6th" speaker will be in the rear-center, but hiding the wire is going to be a challenge.
What are my options? Do I take a chance and drill a hole in my wall and "hope" that the cable will fall straight down? Should I consider simply adding a center shelf to rest my speaker on? The biggest problem is that I hate to have a speaker wire hanging from the rear wall to the floor! The wife WILL NOT like that. I suppose I can also do either the shelf idea OR by an adjustable speaker stand for the rear that can be removed when we have company over. Please, any ideas will be greatly appreciated! |

Anyways, you can paint this stuff the same color as your wall and you'll never notice it there. |
| Well here is what i did | pinetop Jul 26, 2002 1:10 PM | | First off i had to drill two 1/4 inch holes in the floor one near the receiver and one near the rear speaker. I ran the speaker cable under the floor fastened to the floor joists, and put the rear speaker on a stand. I do not use this set up anymore the (lads) dogs kept knocking down the stand when they ruff housed each other. So for me it's back to 5-1. (hope i helped some) bob d |
