| Panasonic gets my Thumbs Up! :) (nt) | nick4433 Jul 27, 2002 11:58 AM | | |
| Nick, how about Kenwood VR-605? | KiD SmokE Jul 27, 2002 2:38 PM | | I have been looking at Receiver's specification at that price range (in case of upgrade), and although Kenwood don't have alot of bells and whistle (no discrete 5.1 input or S-video input), but it excel where it matter most and that in the Amp department.
Its THD% is lower than Panasonic or Pioneer (7 THD%), and its little cousin VR-506 put out 140 watt for 6 ohm load (rated by ConsumerReport), where Panasonic is only rated at 100 watt into 6 ohm. What do you think??
Just as a side note, Kenwood and Panasonic a.k.a Technics were rated higher in term of sound quality (4 Star) than Sony, JVC and Pioneer Receivers (3 Stars). |
| Nick, how about Kenwood VR-605? | nick4433 Jul 27, 2002 6:35 PM | | I read somewhere that the Panasonic tested at 75W/C with all channels driven. That was the Se-100 I believe. |
| Don't know much about the Kenwood though.... | nick4433 Jul 27, 2002 6:36 PM | | In that price range, I'd look at the Pioneer 811S. I tested it and liked it a lot. |
| Check these out | Soundman Jul 27, 2002 7:36 PM | | I think the Panasonics and the Pioneer followed by Kenwood and JVC with the Sherwood bringing up the rear. Here are some prices
