Need some help/suggestions...Denon_man
Jul 27, 2002 8:54 PM
Hi,

I need to upgrade 2 things in my system. I need to add a Sub and I need to upgrade my Philips DVD player (currently DVD 825). The Phil is great, except that it skips on layer changes and it wont pass DTS to my Denon AVR-2802. I have B&W DM602s and I need a matching sub. What is more important? My budget is around $250 and I will be buying used. I need progressive scan and VCD compatability, SACD/DVD-Audio would be nice too (but not needed)

Another question (not audio related)

I recently added a dimmer in my HT room, the light bulbs make a high pitched noise which is really irritating during quiet points in movies. Am I doing something wrong?

Suggestions are appreciated.

JVC S60BK $179 and Panasonic RP-62 $179 are the best progressive scan player out there for the price.

It is not the light bulb that is making high pitch noise, but rather it is the Dimmer switch. They utilize a circuit called "Switching circuitry" that causes that buzz. The best method to combat this problem is to turn it off while your HT is on.
