| Finishing a 40X30 feet basement, need audio/video ideas. | Electonics Novice Jul 29, 2002 9:39 AM | | Hi,
I'm planning to finish my 40X30, 8 feet high basement. I would like to have an open concept with areas designed for home theatre, dance floor, gym and kid's play area. I would like to have a centralized music system that will control all the different areas individually and sometimes collectively. I would be interested in cieling speakers for some areas to go along with other wall and regular speakers. As my name suggests, I'm a complete novice. I would greatly appreciate if some suggestions were thrown at me in terms of the equipment and design. I do already have a 61 inch TV. Thanks a lot. |

bose lifestyle 50-home theater and central control $3500.
parasound hca1500a-power amp for dance floor $800.
niles cm6mp-ceiling spkrs. for gym,play room $250.pr.
parasound zamp-zone amp for gym, play room $200.ea
speakers for dance floor should be a full range floor standing model but if you must have ceiling mounted try,
niles ds6500at--$575.00ea
this setup lets you distribute music to any area independently or all zones(area) at once via bose touch screen remote |

I would suggest a Denon AVR-3802 or 4802 as the main receiver. Use Klipsch reference line as your 5.1/6.1 HT setup. The Denon has multizone capabilities. This means that you can have home theater in one corner in another area have something totally different playing, all from one receiver. Klipsch also makes nice ceiling speakers. You can put two of these in the gym and two of them in the dance and play area. This is just a rough idea. Go to Tweeter and ask them about Denon and multiroom capabilities.
