HK avr 320 questionsure1

I just started setting up my new receiver and have
noticed that it appears that I really have to crank the
volume to get sound at a fairly audible level (-55 or so).
I have relatively efficient Angstrom speakers, so I am
curious as to whether this is my unit or normal for this
unit. Any thoughts? Thanks
Is your volume control calibrated in dB?KiD SmokE

I am assuming it is since you said "-55". For such a volume settings, most listening is between -55 to -20 dB.
Thanks, exactly what I was looking for. N/Tsure1

I have an h/k AVR 520 and I'm listening to the radio right now at -25dB. It's about as loud as I can go without fear of getting kicked out of my apartment. -55dB on a 320 is NOT what I'd call "cranking it". Now, if you'd said that you have to put it up to 0db or higher to get a "fairly audible level", then I'd say you have a problem.
FYI, on my 520 (I don't know if yours is different) I programmed the default volume setting to -30dB. On the OSD go to Advanced, then to Default Vol. Set. This way you don't have to start from -55db or whatever.
Good luck.
