| Get 5.1 from Pro Logic and DVD w/Decoder? | lostdude Oct 21, 2002 4:55 PM | | I got a pass down old Pioneer A/V receiver that only supports Pro Logic but I seen some DVD player that has its own 5.1 and DTS decoder built-in. So is it possible to use this combination somehow to get me 5.1 sound? The only inputs I see on the Pioneer is Left Right so am I screwed?

| Short answer, You're screwed 8^( | Sir Terrence the Terrible 1 Oct 21, 2002 6:22 PM | | lostdude,
In order to use a DVD player with a Dts/DD decoder onboard you must have a 5.1 ready receiver with the necessary analog inputs. If you only have L/R inputs, the your receiver is not 5.1 ready.

| Don't be so pessimistic TT... | Keith from Canada Oct 22, 2002 5:36 AM | | You forgot to mention that the current cost of a 5.1 receiver is such that all is not lost. For a couple hundred, you could easily go out and enter the land of 5.1! |
| Don't be so pessimistic Kieth also.... | KiD SmokE Oct 22, 2002 10:43 AM | | Even with a pro logic receiver, one still will be able to get surround sound (L/R/C/Mono surround) out of DVD player's analog output since DVD player will put out "true" Pro-logioc signal by default (in DD mode only :) |
