| Yamaha RX-Z1 & DSP-AZ1 | brittonj3 Oct 22, 2002 4:13 PM | | Anybody own either of these? Have any opinions? I want to buy the DSP-AZ1 in gold. I have had a little dialog regarding buying this in the orient at http://pub106.ezboard.com/faussiedvdandhtforumfrm28
Does anybody else here have any suggestion on where specifically I can pick this unit up at a good price. Also, once again if you own this unit or have had any experience with it please chime in. Thanks, Britton |

It's my opinion that you've picked the best possible choice for a centerpiece in an exquisite home entertainment system. Congratulations also on choosing the gold finish version - that's the one I'd pick for myself (if I only had the money to do so). If you wanted the RX-Z1 you could buy it in America, but as far as I know, the DSP-AZ1 is only available in other parts of the world. I have no explanation of why this is so. Friends of mine at Yamaha-USA don't seem to know either.
Green with envy,

| re: Yamaha RX-Z1 & DSP-AZ1 | brittonj3 Oct 25, 2002 2:29 PM | | Thanks Woodman, I was wondering if anybody was ever going to weigh in their opinion of this unit! I have been searching and weighting about 4 years now trying to figure out what piece would finish my system. I bought some amazing Tannoy speakers (Saturn S10) in Canada while on a trip. I have a sony reference DVD player....etc and I have finaly settled on this unit (Yamaha) after being dissapointed with Sony's new stuff and Denons prices. I have been very impressed with Yamahas offerings the past couple years and though I have never owned and used to shun Yamaha, believe that they currently command the most bang for the buck, balancing "warmth with detail" that I have been looking for. The only problem is that I want the Gold edition and that is only available outside the US. I am a pilot and fly free so am considering hopping over to the Orient if I can pinpoint exactly where to touch down to pick this baby up at a good price. Anyway, thanks for your response. Out of curiousity, what do you run your system with? |

I've been running my system with a Yamaha DSP-A2070 for the past 9 years, with nary as much as a hiccup, burp, or fart from it. I'd dearly love to upgrade to one of the units you plan to get, but 50+ years in the consumer electronics industry have left me a virtual pauper!
I have had the utmost respect for Yamaha for a whole bunch of years - not only for the products they make, but also for the way the company conducts its business. If all mfgs. behaved like Yamaha, we'd all be FAR better off than we presently are, IMO.
Let me know how you make out in your quest
