Main-in on <$1000 HT receiverScottHansma

It's tight times, so I'm selling my Classe separates and looking to buy an integrated receiver for $1000 or less. Only I can't find one that has inputs to the power amp section -- they all have pre out, but (as far as I can tell), no main in or power in. Does anyone know of one that can do this? There's several with the 6-8 channel "ext in," but I'm assuming these are inputs to the preamp stage, and that connecting the pre out to this would be very bad.

Any ideas?

FWIW, here's what I'm trying to do: I have a pair of NHT 2.9s as my fronts plus 3 other speakers (C,RR,LR), and no desire to "upgrade" to 7.1 or 8.1 or whatever craziness, so I'd (ideally) like to bi-amplify the 2.9s with the 2 unused channels on a x7 receiver (like the Denon 3802) -- ie, put a Y-cable on the subwoofer pre-out and feed it right back into 2 channels of the amp
