I would like a definitive answer regarding the difference between Pioneer A/V receivers and Radio Shack A/V receivers... it seems that both share the same chassis and faceplate but what else?

by a Rad. Shack manager that most of their RCA branded products are just an entry level Pioneer, repackaged. I was looking at their CD changers, which Pioneer has a good reputation for. The mgr. specifically mentioned receivers and cd players as made by Pioneer.

That's all I know.

Pioneer makes RS's gear, my dad owns a Dolby digital (no dts) reciever, actualy nice, and good quality (has the speaker distance thing, not delays) but its the same thing as Pionner, at my dad's I have a RS pro logic system (use it in stereo, with crummy Jensen speakers and a crappy passive sub form RS, but i never listen to that much anyway) and its the same as Pioneer's

Buy something good. Rake some leaves or shovel snow if you need more money. I've considered selling plasma for a new turntable at one point.

Right on, Spacedeckman. I'd personally put my money into reliability as a first consideration, then go from there if I had extra cash.
